Giving Thanks

Hi everyone! Well I am back from Italy and let me tell you, it is a great place. The food is fabulous, the scenery is gorgeous and the people are very friendly. They are totally fine if you can't speak Italian and actually most people seemed to know a lot of English. Now I can't vouch for all parts of the country as I was only in Rome and Florence, but if you can ever make it to either place, don't be worried about speaking or getting around (I only got lost once and rode the bus for about 45 minutes too long). Just learn the basics - hello, goodbye, toilet, taxi, etc. and you should be fine. The food is amazing and I'm sorry I couldn't enjoy the wine. Iain and I definitely have it on our places to go for vacation in the future so we'll sample it together post baby. We'd like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for everything we have, especially each other, our health and our family and friends. We really miss everyone and hope that you have the chance to sit down and relax with the people who mean the most to you. I realize my British family and friends won't be celebrating on Thursday but we'll be thinking about you and eating some good food for you.

Doctor

Well our second doctor's appointment went well. We did our "history" which consists of asking me at least 150 questions and Iain about 5. It appears are if we're in good health. During my examination, the doctor was also able to hear the baby's movements and heartbeat by placing a fetal heart monitor on my belly. It was amazing how fast his/her heart went! The doctor pointed out the difference in the noise the heart made versus the sound of the baby's movements. All in all, it was very cool. Our next appointment is in about 4 weeks and we might be able to find out the baby's sex at that time. We were told it all depends upon which way the baby is facing. The prenatal nurse also said that the staff aren't allowed to put anything in writing which states the sex of the baby. She said that this has caused litigation suits in the past! We really don't mind if it's a boy or girl though, but yes, we are going to try and find out. Iain and I hope that everyone is doing well and that you enjoy the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. We'll be visiting family and friends in Uniontown for Turkey Day and we're definitely looking forward to Grandma's turkey (and cranberry sauce!). I'm off to Italy for work this coming week, but I'll be sure to eat some pasta for you! Ciao!

Greetings!

Hi everyone! Iain and I want to say hello to our family and friends who are far away from us. This is quite a few of you!
As many of you already know, we are expecting our first child. To those of you who didn't know- Surprise! We'd like to use this blog to keep you updated as to our progress and what's going on in our lives. I got this fabulous idea from my fantastic sister in law, Jennifer, who is also using a blog to keep us posted with her and my brother, Matt's, pregnancy. They are expecting a baby boy in February.
As of today, November 4, 2007 I am 13 weeks pregnant. Our due date is May 7, 2008 which is approximately 6 months from now. So far everything has been going smoothly, especially now that the nausea has past. That was a rough couple of weeks! For me physically and for Iain because of my crabbiness!
Our next doctor's appointment is November 8 so we'll let you know how it goes! Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy that extra hour of sleep.
