One Month and Counting

Well the holidays have come and gone and to be honest, I'm tired. But it really doesn't have much to do with the actual holidays! Having a baby this time of year makes things a little more hectic than usual but there were some definite perks. I didn't get many cookies baked and I did wrap last minute gifts as I need to give them (Christmas Eve), but we were able to have many family members and friends come and visit which outweighed some of the other things. Santa made an appearance and Callum received the violin he asked "Ho Ho" for. He also received some new trains, art supplies, kitchen supplies and other miscellaneous items including a Thomas the Train tent. Callum's also developed a love for Disney's Toy Story due to his new set of Buzz Lightyear and Woody toys and his Toy Story 3 DVD. Xavier received many new clothes and some toys which will come to good use in the coming year. Speaking of Xavier, he recently passed the one month mark and is growing like a weed. He weighed in at 10 lbs, 13 oz on Tuesday. He's doing exceptionally well holding his head up and I think I got a brief smile out of him yesterday. His sleep is hit and miss. He can sleep up to 5 hours at a time but that's only happened a handful of nights. Xavier has a habit of making little cooing noises when he wants something at night. He's not a screamer like my first born son. Xavier tends to make little noises until you recognize his needs but if you put it off too long, he will yell. :-) Iain and I are very, very thankful for everyone's help during this time. We appreciate all of the cards, visits, meals and support we've been given after welcoming Xavier into the family. I am enjoying my time at home and have only really had one bad day/night with Xavier (yesterday!) and man was I grumpy by the time Iain and Callum got home. But since, it's been a month with the littlest one, and I've only really had one bad day, I count my blessings. Callum's doing OK as a big brother. He seems to like Xavier for the most part but sharing mommy, especially one who is breastfeeding, is tough. Callum does recognize Xavier has a part of our family though and always includes him when he talks about coming home from daycare. I think once Xavier is a little bit more fun, Callum will really enjoy him. I hope to be able to continue to post more frequently while I spend some time as a SAHM.
